Replacing Your HV System
If you are spending more and more to keep your HVAC system running, there is a good chance it’s time to replace it. For instance, if your home’s heating or air conditioning is older than 15 years old (10 years for a heat pump), it may have a harder time keeping your home comfortable. Also, if your home has changed since you bought it (such as an add-on), your old HVAC system may not be up to the job. A new heating or A/C system will lower your energy bills and keep you comfortable year-round. And it will be more dependable and less expensive to maintain than your old system.
A new system can improve your home’s:
- Air quality
- Energy efficiency
- Utility costs
- Comfort levels with consistent temperatures and settings
With our Upfront Pricing for repairs and replacement, you won’t have any surprises. You’ll know how much it will cost before any work takes place. Together, we’ll work with you to find the right system for your home and your budget. We’ll also show you the increases in energy efficiency you’ll gain with your new system, as well as the net monthly cost of ownership.

Owner Ed Humbert Answers Your Questions about Heating and AC Repair in Spotsylvania
- What is a Ductless HVAC System?
A ductless system otherwise known in the industry as a mini-split (a miniature split-system HVAC unit) is simply that, a miniature HVAC system. However, there are some very distinct differences in the 2 types of systems.
Central air conditioning in homes did not become popular until the 1970s and, of course, was developed in the good ole USA. Mini-Splits, however, weren’t developed until much later by the Japanese so you can imagine the cultural differences alone can explain the difference in engineering.
When the Japanese developed what we now call the mini-split or ductless system their engineering practices were highly focused on high energy cost, cramped living spaces, and noise levels, while America at that stage did not consider those factors as major hurdles in their design & engineering efforts.

- When should I consider replacing my heat pump, furnace, or air conditioner?
To start with, don’t wait until it’s too late. No one wants to deal with the major expense of a new HVAC system during the middle of summer or winter or during a major holiday so be proactive and set some funds aside for an early replacement, you’ll be glad you did.
If your heat pump requires a major repair and it’s 10 years or older you should consider a replacement, you could save enough money on your energy bill and future repairs to cancel out a monthly payment for a new system.
If your air-conditioner is 15 years old or older and requires a major repair you should consider a replacement, most systems when matched properly will have a 10-year extended parts warranty by the manufacturer so long as its registered.
If your furnace is 15 years or older you should consider a replacement. CAUTION, Carbon Monoxide is very dangerous, you should have your furnace checked every year to be sure it is not releasing carbon monoxide into your home, this is more common that most people realize.
- How do I know who I can trust when looking for a qualified contractor for the maintenance, service, or replacement of my HVAC system?
- Check their business name with your state and local government.
- Ask them to provide a copy of their License.
- Be sure they have commercial liability insurance of at least $2,000,000.
- Ask them to provide a copy of the insurance certificate.
- Check their local ratings, Google, Angie’s List, Home Advisor, etc.
- Ask them for contact information from prior customers who can provide references.
- You can also request copies of the technicians' training certifications as well.
