If HVAC Replacement Is In Your Future
Nobody wants to think about the possibility of replacing a central air, heat pump, heating, or furnace unit. But if your system is more than 15 years old, or your heat pump is more than 10 years old, it’s probably time to replace.
Think about it this way: how much is your aging unit costing you in repair and utility costs? If you’re spending more and more on keeping the unit running, your unit may also be using more energy to run it. Updating your HVAC unit to a new, energy-efficient model will lower your utility costs and energy consumption, as well as help with indoor air quality and solve problems with “hot” or “cold” rooms.
With regular maintenance, your new system will keep your home comfortable year-round more affordably. All of our systems include a 10-year warranty for parts and 1-year for labor. We proudly offer Amana and Lennox heating and air conditioning systems.

Owner Ed Humbert Answers Your Questions About HVAC Repair in Stafford
- How can I determine the number of heating & cooling zones I have in my home?
Easy just count the number of thermostats and/or appliances in that section of the home and that’s the number of individually controlled zones.
- What kind of filters should I use in my furnace or air handler?
Your furnace or air handler is designed for a specific volume and velocity of air flow, but in many cases this air flow is compromised due to inadequate ductwork design. When this happens your furnace and/or air handler may be working overtime trying to push the air throughout the distribution system called the ductwork. If you install a high MERV pleated filter in your system it will have to work even harder to force the air through the ducts causing your system to work even harder, and premature failure of the system is probable! Use a common inexpensive fiberglass filter and change it monthly!
- I’m having my basement finished. Can I just extend some ducts into the new rooms?
Unfortunately for budgetary reasons this is the most common mistake of remodelers when finishing a basement.
During the permitting phase a heating & cooling load calculation is perform by a qualified contractor to determine the size of the heating & cooling equipment it may not have included any unconditioned space such as an unfinished basement, so adding more ducts creates a higher load and in most cases does not make for a comfortable space.
Anytime you modify your home it’s best to have a load calculation done to determine if there are additional heating & cooling needs. A mini-split system can usually be added at a reasonable cost and is well worth the money, who wants to spend a small fortune to expand the living area of their home only to find out that they don’t enjoy spending time there because it’s not comfortable!
