Fall is coming to Fredericksburg and we can’t wait to see our small city covered in leaves. Although the weather has already shifted, the official start of Fall is not until this Friday, September 22nd. And in order to get you ready for the season, we have prepared a fall HVAC maintenance list so your heating system is ready to go when the temperature drops.
- Change the air filter: You should be checking your air filter regularly and replacing it once it gets dirty. At the least, you should be replacing the air filter every three months.
- Clean the vents: At the same time that you are checking the air filter, grab your vacuum and clean off the air vents. Aside from allowing the air to flow easily, it will decrease the dust in your home.
- Check the registers: Make sure that nothing (furniture, rugs, etc) is covering the registers. If they are covered or closed it can cause your heating system to overheat. Overheating can cause your system to shutdown.
- Install a Programmable Thermostat: If you haven’t yet, look into a programmable thermostat. This thermostat will help you adjust the temperature for any time of the day so that you are always comfortable.
- Insulation: A good way to ensure that your heating system works efficiently is by insulating your home. Any insulation helps, whether it be attic, wall, or windows, the insulation will stop the loss of heat in your home.
- HVAC Inspection: Have your system inspected! If you haven’t had your annual inspection, give us a call so we can inspect your system and make sure that it is ready for the season.
